Presentation Synopsis
This webinar will provide a brief overview of what dementia is, and what it isn’t, and why good eyesight matters to people living with dementia in any setting. Our research project explored the routine eye examination from the perspective of optometrists, people living with dementia and carers, so this webinar will also cover the eyecare access barriers that people living with dementia can experience, and why these are relevant to dispensing. Some evidence-based and pragmatic tips for dementia-friendly dispensing will be shared from our research study, including common challenges with glasses, communication, respecting choices, and identifying early warning signs of responsive behaviours.
