WEBINAR WEDNESDAY CPD EVENT

About the event

Hosted by Optical Dispensers Australia and Presented by Nicola Peaper of Rodenstock

Topic: Controlling light – Transmission, Reflection & Absorption

When dispensing we have the power to control transmission, reflection and absorption to enhance our patients visual experience, comfort and quality of life. This presentation will look at the light spectrum from UV to IR with respect to the wavelengths that are essential for good health and good vision and those that are potentially damaging.

Learning objectives:

·        To appreciate how different materials transmit various wavelengths of light and the effect that that may have on vision, contrast and colour perception.

·        To understand the various uses of anti reflection coatings to increase or reduce transmission of light through a lens.

·        To understand the difference polarisation, tinting and photochromic treatments have on contrast and colour perception.

About the speaker: Nicola Peaper graduated from the University of Wales and qualified as an optometrist in the UK in 1985. She practiced in both private and corporate practice in the UK for 20 years including 8 years in her own practice. In 2001/2 she was employed as Ophthalmic Advisor to Kensington, Chelsea & Westminster Health Authority.
